Over the past month, Rock Salt Wales has sold in excess of 30,000 bags of Grit as well as completing gritting applications for businesses. Despite the terrible conditions, snow fall and road closures, we have not let down one single customer. This is for both deliveries and spreading.

ASW ‘Rock Salt Wales’ still has a small stock of Rock Salt available for delivery. From the phone calls we have been receiving it would appear that this is possibly the last Rock Salt in Wales for both suppliers and the local councils!

We would like to ,Thank' all the businesses that took their time and effort in voting us best business start up 2010/2011. Although we as a company were totally unaware that the awards even existed, we were very surprised to have been advised that we have been nominated in view that we only become a limited company in September 2010.

Unfortunately we were not taken down to the final three, however are thrilled and deeply honoured to have even had a nomination. Carl Hendy, Director of ASW made a statement "To have been nominated amongst some very big businesses within South Wales, shows how far we have come as a business in such a short space of time. This nomination gives us the motivation to continue our hard work with the view of winning an award at the Swansea Life awards in the years to come".

The Daily Star is running an article today called 'Snow-Joke'. They are indicating temperatures of minus -6 with daily temperatures not getting above zero from Thursday this week! This is a far cry from the glorious weather we are experiencing at this present time.

Carl Hendy Director of ASW states "There is every potential for snow later this week. The weather models are currently indicating a confidence of 85% for snow later this week for the South Wales area. Snow is a fragile transition and the slightest of changes to temperatures can flaw this from happening. However at this present time, you need to take this data as soft, pending models firming up later in the week whereby confidence increases and models become alot firmer".

ASW are Wales Number "1" Private Gritting Company and relied upon by many local businesses across South Wales ensuring they remain compliant through the Winter Months! Despite the terrible conditions this Winter, with the use of plant/machine/snow chains, ASW has never failed to attend a customers location.

Despite the snow, the ice, the black ice, the traffic jams, the road accidents, the diversions, ASW continued to work above and beyond to attend all their clients sites throughout the winter. Carl Hendy Director of ASW commented "at times, situations were difficult, very difficult, however we never had it in our minds that we would not be able to get to our sites. With the aid of chains, shovels, tractors and good old team work, we always got the end result we needed, and that was not to let our customers down. When the situations were bad and more so around the snow days, we had our tractors towing our vehicles up inclines, we were manually gritting routes so our vehicles could get from A to B. The days were longer, very long, but we were always deterimned to achieve our objective". ASW also completed a rock salt delivery service which again, against the elements they managed to attend to every order within a 24 hour period which included delivery. Carl Hendy commented "offering both a gritting and sales of rock salt service through the most extreme weather conditions, we feel we played our part to not only the local public but to businesses in keeping them open, operating and compliant through a difficult time for all businesses". This Winter has been the wake up call for the whole of South Wales. With the Winters gradually getting worse over the last 4 years, the last Winer has really made businesses throughout South Wales think about the implementation of Winter Maintenance Programs to safeguard themselves from slips, trips and falls. Facilities Managers and Health and Safety Managers have been biting their nails over the last couple years, worrying about the Winter. Will they get a claim? has the company employees they have been using to spread grit actually contracted to complete such a high risk duty? Will they slip? Is their business really geared and prepared for the winter? With the zero tollerance towards Health & Safety, winter maintenance programs are becoming more recognised as the perfect solution towards their headaches for the last few winters. ASW are already in consultation with many businesses in providing services already in preparation for next winter.
